It’s a shame that it’s too late to apologize to the King of Pop over this, but it’s official, Michael Jackson really did have no choice but to be a white man. Unsealed search warrants in his case have revealed that dozens of tubes of skin-lightening creams typically used to treat vitiligo were among items found in the singer’s home after his death.
Investigators found the cream after searching MJ’s rented mansion due to receiving word that Dr. Conrad Murray was eager to get a medical bag he claimed to have placed in a cupboard in a closet at the home. He allegedly told hospital officials and police on the scene when Jackson died that it was urgent that he leave “so that he could pick up some cream that Mr. Jackson has so that the world wouldn’t find out about it.”
Detectives found 19 tubes of hydroquinone and 18 tubes of Benoquin, both of which treat the skin condition that Jackson had but didn’t want the world to know about. The disease creates white patches of skin, and creams can be used to lighten skin that has retained its color to give a more even appearance.
This latest revelation comes after warrants were redacted and unsealed Friday after The Associated Press filed a legal motion.
What’s odd is the part about him not wanting anyone to know about his bout with the disease. He constantly caught flack for appearing to want to be white, when, really, he had no choice. Had he chosen to go public about it, he could’ve possibly gone from anti-black villain to vitiligo victim and remained endeared to the black community. Of course, he’s now reclaimed his spot in the hearts of members of his race, but it’s too little, too late …
