Erykah Badu created an uproar this past weekend after releasing the controversial video for the song “Window Seat” from her new album New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh). Inspired by the assassination of President John F. Kennedy at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Badu chose to get completely naked in broad daylight to make a point about character assassination.
However, the video was shot guerilla style without a permit from the city of Dallas and Badu’s nude scene could cause her to have a few issues with law enforcement.
In the city of Dallas, a class B misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure can lead to a fine of $2,000 and 180 days in jail. But if Badu was handed a class A charge, she could be been fined $4,000 and receive one year in prison.
Badu is currently in the clear since there were no complaints filed with police. But if a witness steps forward, she could be formally charged. –amir shaw
