The Pittsburgh Steelers ran out of patience with Santonio Holmes. On Sunday, the Steelers traded Holmes, a Super Bowl MVP, to the New York Jets for a fifth-round draft pick.
The trade comes after Holmes was suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy and two weeks after he was accused of throwing a drink on a woman at a Miami nightclub.
But while Holmes’ troubles apparently became too much for the Steelers to deal with, the team has continued to stick by their troubled quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger.
Roethlisberger has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman last month at a Milledgeville, Ga., nightclub. He was also accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2008. He has yet to be suspended for either incident.
