A New York gubernatorial candidate is fighting for his political life after a series of abhorrent e-mails were leaked to the press that featured rabid racism, pornography, bestiality and blatant disrespect to President Obama.
Tea party candidate Carl Paladino immediately went on the offensive to try to deflect the fact that he allegedly authored myriad disgusting e-mails that include depictions of the president and first lady as a pimp and prostitute, and a separate photo of a woman having sex with a horse. Other e-mails sent include African tribesman with a caption that read “Obama Inaugural Rehearsal.”
Paladino is a wealthy developer aiming to replace embattled New York Gov. David Paterson in the upcoming election. But an upstate political blog that released the extremely disturbing e-mails he supposedly sent may have caused irrevocable damage to his chances.
Predictably, Paladino blamed the unearthed e-mails as part of a “liberal Democratic blog smear” campaign. But most telling is the fact that Paladino did not deny sending the e-mails, the Buffalo News reports. This will undoubtedly challenge the never-ending claims from Republicans and extremist right-wingers that the rancid anti-black rhetoric oozing out of Tea Party rallies are not coming from the leadership. This didn’t stop Paladino’s camp from taking a defensive posture.
“We’re not surprised the political establishment feels threatened by Carl’s drive to take Albany back for taxpayers,” Paladino’s campaign manager said.
The e-mails in question came to light just one week after Paladino formally announced his candidacy. –terry shropshire
