Nas may finally be able to get back to making music without worrying about legal issues for a while. On Wednesday, a Los Angeles judge cleared Nas of a civil contempt charge that was related to his divorce from R&B singer Kelis.
Nas reportedly paid Kelis $50,000 in child support and paid for her legal and accounting fees to get the case dismissed.
Earlier this week, Nas was ordered to pay Kelis $350,000 for failing to pay child support, alimony and lawyer fees. Fans of Nas and Kelis expressed their feelings on Twitter by making #ihopekelis and #naswillbe top trending topics on Monday.
The Queens native will release a new album, Distant Relatives, on May 18 and Kelis will release Flesh Tone on July 6.-a.r.
