Chicago's Gun Violence Continues: 20 Black People Shot and 7 Killed in Just 12 Hours

Black youth in Chicago continue to kill each other at an alarming rate. Starting last Thursday night and continuing into Friday morning, 20 people were shot and seven were killed in a span of 12 hours.

Teen victims included Ramone Cook,19, who was shot and killed shortly after 11 o’clock and a 16- and 17-year-old suffered gunshot wounds while they played basketball at Nat King Cole Park.


Most of the violence has taken place on the South and West Side of the city. The Chicago Police Department believes that most of the shootings are gang related.

In only four months, 97 people have been murdered in Chicago. –amir shaw
