Prison Guard Gets Fired and Lil Wayne Is at the Center of It

Lil Wayne, who’s serving a year long sentence on gun possession charges, is obviously so popular that prison guards are willing to risk their jobs to see the rapper.

A former guard at New York’s Rikers Island was reportedly fired after being accused of spying on the high-profile celebrity.

Over a month ago, Amelia Negron lost her job due to allegations stemming from her presence in an unauthorized area of the prison where the hip-hop artist was being held.

Negron admits that she did indeed enter the restricted area, but claims it wasn’t to see the rapper. She says she was there to visit with a fellow colleague, who worked in the area. She adds that when she was asked to leave, she did so without a hassle.

“I don’t even like rap. I like rock and alternative music and didn’t know much about him when they said I tried to see him,” Negron told the New York Daily News. “None of it’s true. I did nothing wrong, but I was threatened with criminal charges, transfers and suspensions.”

The 33-year-old is reportedly consulting with lawyers and plans to file a lawsuit against her former employer. A spokesman for the Correction Department claims Negron’s dismissal was “entirely appropriate.” –christian johnson
