Lawrence Taylor’s wife, Lynette Taylor, has decided to speak out against accusations that her husband raped a minor at a Holiday Inn in Suffern, N.Y. One day after the football legend was released on a $75,000 bond, Lynette talked to reporters about how she found out about the allegations.
“I got a phone call from a friend at 9 or 10 o’clock that morning,” she recalled. “I have no idea what he was doing with a teenager. We’re taking about reports — not what we know as facts. I don’t know if he was with a teenager. Lawrence is 51 years old. Why would a teenage girl be soliciting sex from a 51-year-old man?”
Lynette also provided several reasons why she believes the rape allegations are untrue.
“First, he is not one of those people who would invite a person back to his room. He has been in situations before where he has been robbed and by different women, so that’s not something that he does,” she said. “Second thing is, I know my husband’s taste. He has a certain type of woman that he likes and from what I’m hearing of this, this person had nothing to offer him, so I don’t know why he would go to such extremes for someone that’s not even his thing. I’m sure there’s no shortage of women …”
Although Lynette is speaking from her heart and is very emotional at this time, it might be wise for Taylor’s advisers to place a gag order on her before she comes up with another irrational idea about why it was impossible for this crime to be committed. –a.r.
