NBA Prospect Leaves Draft Combine to Deal with the Murder of his Younger Brother

Dexter Pittman wanted to concentrate on proving to NBA teams that he would be a valuable asset in the NBA by participating at the draft combine in Chicago. Unfortunately, Johnson, who starred at the University of Texas, was forced to leave the combine after he discovered that his 15 year-old brother Darius Johnson was shot and killed in Katy, Texas.

According to reports, Johnson was found sitting motionless in a chair at his home with one gunshot wound to his head. The police are still searching for suspects and a motive for the crime.

Pittman will likely be a late first round pick in next month’s NBA Draft and could be selected by a team that’s searching for a center to challenge Dwight Howard or Chris Bosh.

As his dream of NBA stardom is realized, Pittman will remain close with family and friends to deal with this tragedy. –a.r.
