Lil Jon Shreds the Tables at V Nightclub

Lil Jon

The enigmatic Lil Jon was in rare form at the MGM Casino’s lavish V nightclub in Detroit. Although we didn’t hear the infamous rapper’s signature howl “WHAAAAT” AND “YYYEEEAAHHH” there wasn’t any of that in the packed to capacity room where he directed the turntables with the skill of musical surgeon, transitioning from beat to beat and song to song seamlessly.

Party revelers went into an all out frenzy when the King of Crunk took to the booth and began spinning a bevy of dance hits that put the room in over drive.  While the celebrity DJ shredded the turn tables and revved up the crowd from midnight until 2 a.m. Lil Jon style, the crowd showed huge love, rocking and screaming with every turn. “This is memory making and a hell of a way to get ready for the summer jump-off,” commented one fan.  “He’s can do it all, that’s why I’ll always come to see him, performing or deejaying,” said another.

Lil Jon echoed those sentiments, reportedly telling Metromix. “My job is to get the party retarded. I want to give everyone memories. When you come to my gigs, you leave with memories.”

The beloved rapper, producer is due to drop his latest album Crunk Rock on June 8. Insiders say the album is a departure from Lil Jon hits of the past like “Rock Wit It,” “Bia, Bia” and “By Yourself” and will prove that he’s more than a Dirty South rapper — he is a formidable musical force whose talents extend far beyond the confines of any one genre.  But for purveyors of crunk, Lil Jon proclaims “Crunk is not dead.”

Certainly not as long as he’s around to tell the story.
