Diddy’s Bus Bound for Narcissism Rolls Over Another: ‘Making Band’ Winner Leaves Label

alt

Diddy is a supreme hustler. You can’t fault him for that. What you can fault him for, though, is his tendency toward ruining careers of artists he endorses by promising pie in the sky but delivering nothing but pie in the face. His label , Bad Boy Entertainment, has been party to several high-profile “I want out of my contract” negotiations over the years and it’s happened again. Donnie Klang, the blue-eyed-soul singer from Diddy’s “Making the Band 4,” has now decided to leave the label, citing the mogul’s lack of attention on the artist and laser focus on himself.

Klang, 25, released a solo album after being awarded a side contract on the TV competition in 2008, but hasn’t seen any real success or promotion since. He says there are no hard feelings between him and the producer, but with a couple of years shaved off his career during such perilous and lean times in the industry, that’s pretty hard to believe. Klang willl now try his luck at independent label Eight72 Entertainment.

“It’s tough being on a label where the president of the label is also an artist,” he told Billboard.com.  He added that he learned a lot, but …

It appears that the Bad Boy bus continues to roll over its roster, making whatever cash it can for itself, but leaving nothing but tire marks on its artists.
