The Maxwell and Erykah Badu-Jill Scott tour was a concert that lovers of soul music dreamed about. Three of the most creative artists of this generation joined forces to provide a musical experience that was worth top dollar.
But if you didn’t get a chance to see Maxwell, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott live, you will only be able to catch the show on DVD.
On June 15, it started being reported by blogs that Maxwell decided to cancel the entire second leg of the tour. Since the tour started in May, the show has sold out large venues, including Madison Square Garden in New York, the Staples Center in Los Angeles and Philips Arena in Atlanta. Because of the tour’s success, many are questioning the reported cancellation as suspicious.
concert-goers have reported that Maxwell was upset with Erykah Badu and Jill Scott because of their propensity to go over their allotted show times. Others believe that Maxwell decided to leave the tour because Erykah Badu and Jill Scott confronted him about his attitude. They’re all wrong — at least about the cancellation.
According to an inside label source, the tour will continue, but a few legal bugs just need to worked out. There’s a little smoke, but no fire as the blogs are presenting it.
So ticket purchasers, don’t panic. You’ll more than likely still get the opportunity to see the show of a “lifetime.” –a.r.
