These days it seems as if every A-list celebrity has a clothing line, so Mary J.’s has to stand out in a major way if it’s gonna prosper.
Saturday, she premiered a line of cosmopolitan clothing with high-fashion designer, Catherine Malandrino. The event, which was priced $1,000 a ticket to attend, was to raise money for Blige’s Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN).
The money raised by the event will go towards college funds for about 30 or more students graduating from the Women’s Academy of Excellence, which is supported partially by FFAWN. According to FFAWN’s mission statement, their goal is “to inspire women from all walks of life to gain the confidence and skills they need to reach their individual potential.”
The VIP-only show was comprised of 25 looks from T-shirts to evening wear, and are said to have been inspired Tina Turner, Chaka Kahn, Donna Summer and Grace Jones.
