The most commercially successful director in motion picture history will direct a 3-D movie on the concert tour of the most successful band in the world right now.
James Cameron, who directed the two biggest blockbusters in Hollywood history, Titanic and Avatar, will direct the ultimate concert film, says frontman will.i.am.
“Right now we are planning our 3-D tour movie and James Cameron is directing it,” will.i.am tells VIBE. “We have the biggest director because we are the biggest group on the planet. The Peas are filming it in South America. People will be able to see us in the theater with the 3-D glasses and everything.”
Knowing Cameron, who also directed the ’80s classic blockbusters Aliens and Terminator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, will no doubt conjure up some cinematic tricks to blow people’s minds.
“There will be a storyline that [Cameron] came up with, which will be dope,” will.i.am continues. “It’s a full-length film and it’s based around our tour activities. We’ve toured from America and Europe, to the Middle East, South America, Asia and Africa. It’s not like we go, ‘Yo, we are international, you know.’ “
The Black Eyed Peas’ film doesn’t have a name yet, but will come out sometime next year. In the meantime, will.i.am shot down rumors that he and star vocalist Fergie have drama between them.
“Fergie wants to do another solo record, so of course we are going to do that,” he says. “We have material ready for that. But right now we are focused on the Peas, our world tour and the movie.” –terry shropshire
