Mike Vick May Get Cut From Philadelphia Eagles

altThe Philadelphia Eagles said on record they will not take action against embattled quarterback Michael Vick in the wake of the Quanis Phillips’ shooting at Vick’s birthday party in Virginia.

However, there are rumors and reports floating now that they may decide to cut Vick from the roster prior to the regular season, reports the Associated Press.

The AP cited a source “with knowledge of the Eagles’ thinking” in reporting that the team would release its backup quarterback no matter what Virginia Beach police had concluded upon their investigation of the shooting.

And here’s information that may complicate Vick’s fight to remain a professional football player. Marcus Vick, Michael’s brother, said he was the party planner and told reporters that, yes, he saw Phillips enter the club and that “he looked high“ but “it really didn‘t catch my attention.“ This may have been a very bad thing to say because Michael could be in violation of his probation and go back to prison if it is found that he did share the same space with Phillips since both are convicted felons in the infamous dog-fighting case.

Additionally, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Vick’s roster spot “appears to be secure for the time being, though it shouldn’t surprise anyone if the declining backup hits the free agent wire before the season.” –terry shropshire
