A crossover dribble causes a helpless defender to lose his balance before crashing to the pavement; NFL star Terrell Owens throws down a two-handed dunk to prove that he can play with some of the best street ball players in the world; and a 6-foot-7 über-athlete named Antoine “Miles High” Millien returns the favor by catching a reverse alley-oop dunk over Owens, causing fans to rush the court in excitement. All of this took place within the first four minutes of the Entertainers Basketball Classic at Rucker Park in Harlem, New York.
Owens and fellow NFL pro baller Chad Ocho Cinco both sponsored teams that faced off at the legendary park on Monday. Ocho Cinco coached and inspired his team from the sidelines, and Owens served as a player-coach. The center court was filled to capacity as a few spectators sat in trees to get a glimpse of the action. Notable rappers such as Raekwon, Fabolous and Jadakiss were in attendance.
The game started off as a street ball extravaganza as players from both teams executed spectacular dunks, amazing crossover dribbles, and held personal one-on-one battles on the court. But as the game progressed, the players put away the dribbling tricks and began to focus more on offensive strategies. Team T.O. ultimately defeated Team Ocho Cinco 114 to 107. Owens taunted Ocho Cinco and informed members of the media that his rival would have to do 85 push-ups as a result of losing a personal bet. –amir shaw
