NFL Star Sued by Pregnant Stripper; 3 Reasons Pro Athletes Should Stay Out of Strip Clubs

Albert Haynesworth is having a horrible start to the 2010 NFL season. The Washington Redskins’ new coach, Mike Shanahan, has not allowed Haynesworth on the field during training camp because of weight issues, and he is facing a highly publicized lawsuit off the field.

A pregnant stripper named Silvia Mena has filed a $10 million lawsuit against Haynesworth. Mena claims that she was impregnated by Haynesworth during Super Bowl weekend in Miami in February. She says that Haynesworth’s failure to support her has caused her emotional distress.

Haynesworth is urging Mena to take a blood test before he gives her any financial support for the child.

While past incidents with pro athletes should have caused Haynesworth to think twice about visiting a strip club, he has allowed himself to become the latest victim. Here are three reasons strip clubs and pro athletes make a poor combination. –a.r.

1) Violence – Adam “Pacman” Jones became the poster child for the dangers of strip clubs back in 2007. After causing a stir at a Las Vegas strip club during NBA All-Star weekend, several people were shot and a security guard was paralyzed. Several months ago, Vince Young of the Tennessee Titans got into a fight at a strip club that was caught on tape. The intense environment of strip clubs can lead to jail, NFL suspension or a bank account emptying-lawsuit.

2) Easy Targets – Because NFL players earn millions of dollars, they become easy targets for nefarious individuals who may plan to rob them or have them set up after leaving a strip club.

3) Risqué Sex – Along with the robbers, strippers also see NFL players as easy targets. Strippers — many of whom are looking for a pot of gold — have sex with NFL players in hopes of developing a relationship or becoming pregnant by a young millionaire. A roomful of naked women can lead to a moment of weakness that can change an NFL player’s life forever.
