The buzz surrounding the remix to Kanye West’s first single “Power” is now reaching a fever pitch. Hate it or love it, it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t have a strong opinion about the song, which also features the contributions of Jay-Z and Mr. Swizz Keys-Beats.
In his effort to continue self-promoting the album, West released the official artwork to the single on Twitter. Though he hasn’t gone on record to explain the art direction, the piece seems to clearly be a nod towards the glory years of hip-hop, where acts like Public Enemy challenged the establishment through their music.
Is West attempting to reposition himself as a rapper-activist? Only time will tell. –djr
