Mary J. Blige and Corinne Bailey Rae Appear for Fashion’s Night Out in NYC

alt

The biggest fashion party in history has gone global, but there’s no other place in the world I would’ve been than its birthplace — New York. Artists like Mary J. Blige (making an appearance at Gucci) and Corinne Bailey Rae (performing a free concert at the Plaza Hotel) attracted hordes of fashionistas in military jackets, jeans and high heels and others in their After 5 cocktail attire.

It was phenomenal to see fashion fans spill from Fifth Avenue stores like Louis Vuitton, who turned their space into a stage; Armani; Roberto Cavalli; Bergdorf Goodman, which had a window installation featuring performing puppets; and lining up at Tiffany & Co., who rolled out the yellow carpet and passed out yellow mini popsicles signifying the launch of the Yellow Diamond Collection. Supermodel Naomi Campbell performed a dance outside of Madison Avenue’s Dolce & Gabbana boutique in honor of her 25th anniversary in the fashion industry.

Fashion’s Night Out was created by Anna Wintour to celebrate the fashion industry and New York Fashion Week and rehabilitate the fashion industry that was suffered at the hands of a declining economy. Stores were open late and offered special events, promotions and performances. Many celebrities were also on hand; however, the evening’s biggest stars were designers and editors. –yvette caslin
