The first domino in the T.I. fiasco is now set to officially drop. An Atlanta judge has summoned the rapper and requested that he stand before him to offer an explanation as to why his probation shouldn’t be revoked following a recent arrest for drug possession in Los Angeles.
The judge, U.S. District Judge Charles Pannel Jr., signed the summons on Thursday, Sept. 16. Pannel is the same judge who sentenced T.I. for firearms violations.
Although the hearing date has yet to be determined, T.I. should expect to answer questions about the following three possible violations: possession of ecstasy on Sept. 1, testing positive for opiates on Sept. 2 and associating on Sept. 1 with Cortez Thomas, a convicted felon.
While T.I.’s attorneys have been silent on the matter, a spokesman from the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department has shared details from the arrest. According to spokeswoman Nicole Nishida, the pills confiscated during the arrest were confirmed to be ecstasy, and were found on the persons of T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, not in the Maybach they were driving.
Judge Pannel will undoubtedly be unhappy to be hearing this case after signing off on such an unorthodox and “lenient” sentence for the repeated felon. Steve Sadow and the rest of T.I.’s legal team would appear to have their work cut out for them.
