Atlanta Braves Set to Make World Series Run After a Tumultuous September

The Atlanta Braves have a chance to right the wrongs that took place during the last month of the Major League Baseball season. After maintaining a division lead during much of the regular season, the braves imploded and lost 14 games out of 23.

But by clinching a play-off berth, the Atlanta Braves have a second chance to making this a memorable season for Bobby Cox, who will retire this year. The Braves will take on the San Francisco Giants Thursday, Oct. 7, in the first wild card play-off game. During the regular season, the braves won 4 out of 7 games against the Giants.

First baseman Derrek Lee is currently the team’s most consistent hitter and will have to play a major role if he hopes to lead the Braves to the World Series.

Rookie Jason Heyward will also need to step up and provide big hits for the Braves. Since hitting a home run during his first at-bat as a major leaguer, the 22-year-old Heyward proves that the Braves will have one of MLB’s most powerful hitters for years to come. But for the Braves to beat the Giants, Heyward can no longer call himself a rookie and must now play like a wise veteran..

With their superb bats and adequate pitching, the Braves should have enough firepower to get past the Giants. However, they will need to go above and beyond to put themselves in a position to win the World Series. –a.r.
