Tiger Woods Regaining His Mojo Following Divorce

Tiger Woods Regaining His Mojo Following Divorce

Now that he’s endured one of the most humiliating lows possible for a public figure, golf star Tiger Woods feels confident that he is on the road to recovery. During a Monday video conference call for his Chevron World Challenge, Woods appeared relaxed while sharing the lessons he’s learned over the past tumultuous year.

“I learned a lot about myself, and I learned how things went wrong, why they went wrong, and had to take a pretty deep and introspective look at myself,” he said. “And there wasn’t a lot of things I like about it. But I had to do it, and I did it, and [I’m] grateful that I did. I think that I come from a much better place, much more grounded place now than I ever have before.”

That grounded perspective results not only from the adulterous scandal that rocked his world 11 months ago, but it is also the result of Woods’ being humbled by a winless return to the golf course.

Despite that lack of success since his return, Woods still feels confident that he can scratch out a win in 2010.

“My game is coming around,” he said. “So the way I played at the Ryder Cup … I know I have two more events prior to the Chevron event. Hopefully, I can get two more Ws before I get to Chevron, and see what happens.”

Outside of his largely absent golf game, the private life for Woods seems to be gaining a sense of normalcy following the Aug. 23 divorce from his wife Elin Nordegren.

“I think everyone’s certainly more at peace, and so am I,” he said.

Now, if only he could gain a sense of peace with that golf swing. –djr
