Hiccup Girl Lures Black Man to His Death; Online Dating Still Risky

alt

Jennifer Anne Mee, who gained national media attention for nonstop hiccups, confessed to killing a black man in a robbery gone wrong. The 19-year-old has been charged along with two men, Lamont Newton and Laron Raiford, with the first-degree murder of 22-year-old Shannon Griffin in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Griffin met Mee on a social networking site. He shared with a family member that he was excited to meet the girl in person that he’d developed a relationship with online and over the phone. Next thing you know, his family gets a telephone call at 3:30 a.m. It was authorities alerting his aunt, Sylvia Griffin, that her nephew was deceased. Mee lured Griffin to a vacant house where he was fatally shot and robbed of personal items and $50-60 cash.

It’s important for men and women to take precautions when they meet someone online. Here are tips from onlinedatingmagazine.com

1. Follow your instincts. If you are apprehensive, don’t move forward.

2. Guard your personal information. Don’t give out your home phone number or address.

3. Protect your privacy. Use an anonymous e-mail on Yahoo, Hotmail, or Go.com that isn’t easily traceable because this may turn out to be a person with whom you want to cut ties.

4. If you are ready to move forward perform a background check.

5. Your first date needs to be in a public place.

6. Learn self-defense techniques. –yvette caslin
