Michael Vick’s ‘MNF’ Jersey Sent to Pro Football Hall of Fame; Favored to Win NFL’s MVP

Michael Vick's 'MNF' Jersey Sent to Pro Football Hall of Fame; Favored to Win NFL's MVPMichael Vick’s NFL comeback after serving an 18-month prison sentence was solidified on “Monday Night Football” on Nov. 15. During the game, Vick set an NFL record by becoming the first player to pass for of 300 yards, run for 80 yards, pass for four touchdowns, and rush for two touchdowns.

Along with everyone who witnessed Vick’s performance, members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame were also impressed by his extraordinary feats. They called the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday and requested that his jersey be sent to Canton, Ohio, to be put on display at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week, Vick currently stands as the odds-on favorite to win the coveted NFL MVP award.

According to an online gambling site BetUs.com, Vick’s odds of winning the MVP award were 50-to-1 during the first week of the season. After he defeated Peyton Manning’s Indianapolis Colts last week, his odds jumped to 25-to-1. And after his amazing “MNF” display, his odds are currently at 5-to-1. Although Manning is the reigning MVP and has  2-to-1 odds of repeating, Vick would likely trump Manning if the season ended today. Vick stands as the highest rated quarterback with a career high of 115.1; he has thrown 11 touchdowns and has yet to throw an interception; and he has rushed for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.

Manning’s leadership can’t be denied, but Vick’s pass-run threat is unrivaled in the NFL. There are seven weeks remaining in the 2010 NFL season. If Vick’s play remains steady and he leads the Eagles to the playoffs, the voters would be hard-pressed to find a player more valuable to his team or the NFL. –amir shaw
