Polow Da Don gave back to his community in a big way this holiday season. A native of southwest Atlanta, the triple threat songwriter, rapper and producer hosted a free concert, turkey giveaway and carnival at Greenbriar Mall in his hometown.
Known as a stagnant area in terms of new development, Polow provided residents a rare opportunity to experience a top-notch event in the Greenbriar community.
Before the concert, kids enjoyed the carnival rides and over 1,000 turkeys were given away to families in need. Polow also held a contest where a lucky family won free housing payments for an entire year.
After several opening acts, Lloyd kicked things off with his latest hit “Lay It Down.” Gucci Mane surprised the crowd with an unexpected performance, but a few parents were upset that the rapper used foul language with so many children present.
Keri Hilson kept the crowd on their toes with “Knock You Down,” “Turnin’ Me On” and her new single, “Pretty Girl Rock.”
Soon after Hilson left the stage, the crowd began chanting, “We want Chris Brown!” The embattled R&B star entered the stage 20 minutes later and put on the night’s most electrifying performance. Backed by a band, DJ and six dancers, Brown sang nearly all of his top radio hits and brought out Bow Wow to help him perform “Shorty Like Mine.”
After Brown’s performance, attendees were treated to an amazing fireworks display. –amir shaw
