Keep a Child Alive was co-founded by Alicia Keys to provide treatment and support to families affected by HIV/AIDS. The social media abstinence campaign — which begins on World AIDS Day — is urging fans to ‘Buy Life,’ with high-profile mouthpieces staying offline until Keys’ charity hits the donation goal.
When you Buy Life, you give life to millions of people affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India by providing the medicine, food and shelter needed to fight this awful disease.
The Huffington Post reports:
“Videos of celebs in coffins are meant to represent their “digital deaths … Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying …” remarked Leigh Blake, president and co-founder of Keep a Child Alive.
Donations are being accepted through text messages and bar code technology. Visit Buylife.org or Keepachildalive.org for more information.
