Latrecia Antwine is an entrepreneur, motivational speaker, consultant, hair stylist and owner of Miracles & Blessings Salon and SizeSexyDivas Inc. based in Houston. A cosmetology veteran of more than 16 years, Antwine is one of Houston’s top stylists. Antwine knows how to make her clients feel special and look lovely, which is why she founded SizeSexyDivas Inc., an organization dedicated to promoting the positive side of being a plus-size woman. The “Divas” strive to encourage, educate, promote and motivate plus size women to be comfortable with themselves.
“[We are] redesigning sexy as a state of mind,” says this wife, mother and diva in charge. “We want … society to think of us as the majority and not the minority.”
Many women are unhappy because feel uncomfortable with their weight, size and figure. SexySizeDivas hopes to change this mind-set by letting plus-size women know that no matter what size they are, they are beautiful, intelligent, and have value.
SizeSexyDivas has been actively serving the community by holding various fundraisers to support HIV/AIDS awareness, breast cancer awareness, and other women’s health issues. They have also implemented a mentoring program for young ladies ages 12-18 called Diva Darlings, where they assist the teens in making healthy and sound decisions.
SizeSexyDivas is presenting its third annual Black Diamond Masquerade Gala and Fashion Event to benefit the Toys for Tots program. This elegant black-tie affair will feature the crowning of the first SizeSexy Diva of the Year, a fashion show with exquisite designs from L.A.’s Anna Margaux of A Clothes Mind and Rae Boudreaux of Real Bougie Couture. The event will be held at the prestigious Higher Dimension DSpot Annex in Houston on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at 6 p.m.
