Linda Gooden, Lockheed Martin Executive, Named to White House Advisory Committee

President Barack Obama has appointed Linda Gooden to the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. The committee is comprised of 30 industry chief executives from major telecommunications companies, network service providers, information technology, finance and aerospace companies. The mission of the committee is to provide the U.S. government with the best possible industry advice in those sectors.

Gooden, 57, has long been recognized as a leader in her field. She is currently the executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS) business unit, and an officer of Lockheed Martin Corporation. She has served in this position since January 2007. In her previous position, Gooden was president of Lockheed Martin Information Technology, a business unit she grew over 10 years into a multibillion-dollar business.

Gooden earned a degree in computer technology from Youngstown State University and completed post-baccalaureate studies at San Diego State University. In addition, she  holds a bachelor’s and an MBA from the University of Maryland, University College.


Fortune magazine listed her as one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in 2010, and in 2009 she was chosen as one of Black Enterprise magazine’s 100 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America. In 2008, Gooden was inducted into the Maryland Business Hall of Fame and named to Corporate Board Member magazine’s Top 50 Women in Technology. She was selected in 2007 as Executive of the Year by the Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards. In 2006, Gooden was also honored as Black Engineer of the Year by US Black Engineer & IT magazine.
