When El DeBarge labeled his comeback album “Second Chance,” many assumed that he was primarily referring to his return to music. But that only tells part of his story. In a recent interview with rolling out, the silky-smooth vocalist shared thoughts on the second chance that he’s getting to be a father.
As the proud father of 12 children, DeBarge was often an absent father — something he hopes to change with this second chance. “Fatherhood probably means more to me than it would to most people,” he shared with rolling out. “I really haven’t had a chance to father my children like I want to, so now I have that chance. It’s an overwhelming experience to get to see them, embrace them, get inside of their heads, and get to know them. I have 12 children—6 boys and 6 girls — they’re all very talented, they love their daddy, and I love them.”
