While filing in for the politically shallow Sean Hannity, the bow-tie wearing Carson said, “I’m a Christian, I’ve made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances. But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did in a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should’ve been executed for that. He wasn’t, but the idea that the President of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs? Kind of beyond the pale. “
Carson claims to be “Christian,” but it’s apparent that he lacks compassion and is clueless on what it means to be a devout follower of the religion. His hateful rant was also tinged with racism. Although he desires to execute Vick for killing dogs, Carlson, who calls himself an advocate for animal rights, has yet to take fellow republican Sarah Palin to task for killing a caribou on national TV.
President Obama’s call to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was a brief conversation that should have remained a non-issue. However, it’s too bad that Carlson used the opportunity to take an irrational jab at the president and condemn a man who paid a hefty price for his transgressions.
Carlson believes that Vick should have been executed for his crime, so it’s only fair that Carlson’s employers terminate him for making such a gratuitous statement. –amir shaw
