Rapper G. Dep ‘Relieved’ to Come Clean About Crime

altLast month, former Diddy protégé and Bad Boy Records rising star, G. Dep, turned himself in at a New York police station and confessed to shooting a man during a robbery back in 1993.

After confessing, detectives matched up G. Dep’s confession with the murder of Paul Henkel, who was shot three times in the chest outside an apartment complex.

A teenager then, G. Dep, who is now 36, claims he wasn’t aware that the man died after he shot him, only finding out once the police informed him of Henkel’s death.

Although now facing murder and manslaughter charges, for which he is pleading not guilty (a standard action of defendants who’ve confessed to crimes), G. Dep’s lawyer has spoken for the rapper, saying that he actually feels at ease.

“I get the sense that he’s relieved,” attorney Anthony L. Ricco said. “We have some people who say, ‘Well, he was stupid for confessing.’ On the other hand, there are a lot of people in life who say it’s the first step toward redemption.”

The married father of three is now being held without bail and could face a sentence of life in prison if convicted of the murder.
