T.I. just can’t seem to catch a break these days. The rapper, who’s still serving time for a probation violation, is now being sued by the family of a deceased man whose corpse was shown on an episode of his MTV reality show T.I.’s “Road To Redemption.”
As reported by ajc.com, the lawsuit stems from the premiere episode of the reality show, during which T.I. took viewers to the Haugabrooks Funeral Home where he showed the corpse of Joseph Williams, whose face was blurred.
The attending mortician explained that the dead man was a hustler whose parents were unaware of how he died.
Now the Williams family is suing T.I., MTV and the funeral home for an unspecified amount, claiming that they “carelessly mishandled” the body “for financial gain and publicity,” causing them mental distress.
Williams father, Joseph William Sr., is also contending that the mortician’s comment that they “didn’t know what happened to their son” was false.
The lawsuit was filed on Feb. 9 in Fulton County State Court. At press time, none of the defendants had commented on the lawsuit.
Looks like T.I. is going to head right back to court when he finishes up his sentence in September. Do you think the family should sue over the footage? –nicholas robinson
