You will release 12 viral videos in 2011. How did you come up with ’12 Months of Chalie Boy’ marketing concept?
In 2010, we did a promotion called “52 weeks of Chalie.” We showcased a new e-mail blast every week with new songs so people could get a feel of what I was doing beyond “I Look Good.” This year, we decided to do “12 Months of Chalie.” So we will release a new video every month. Everything is more viral now. People want to see you as they check your music out.
A lot of people are talking about Baby Makin Music. Why did you decide to release an entire album of R&B?
Some people think that I’m just a rapper, but it’s more than that. Baby Makin Music is a collection of original love songs. Its a four disc set. We have two regular CDs that are in regular speed and we also have the screwed up version. In all, there are 48 tracks on the project.
The music business can be tough. What advice do you give to inspiring artists?
I always advise people to become more educated in whatever field you choose. I would suggest going to college first. You have to also stay focus. I had to go through certain things to get to a point where I’m at now. There is a thin line between making it and falling off. You have to have a good business mind and surround yourself with people who are like minded.
