Known as “The Decision,” most NBA fans outside of Miami were appalled by James using a prime time television slot to announce his free agency signing.
Although “The Decision” turned James into an NBA villain more hated than Kobe Bryant, the program generated over $3 million has helped Boys & Girls Clubs across the nation.
According to reports, 1,000 computers have since been donated to 59 Boys & Girls Clubs. At a Boys & Girls Club in Miami, a new roof has been constructed and the students’ work spaces are being furnished by James and, his girlfriend, Savannah Brinson‘s furniture line.
Days following “The Decision,” some speculated that James only gave the show’s advertisement money away to charity for publicity purposes. But it’s hard to condemn a superstar athlete of James’ stature for giving back to the kids who need help the most. –a.r.
