During the 2011 MAGIC fashion trade show in Las Vegas, actor and comedian Cedric the Entertainer introduced his new line of hats, aptly named WHO CED? The collection features the timeless fedora, news boy, beanie and high cap.
Fedoras and beanies are staples in the hip-hop community and are deemed “fresh urban gear.” Rappers like the ’80s Run D.M.C., Notorious BIG, Tupac, Snoop and Diddy have all donned the gangster fedora look. There have been countless artists that sport beanies.
This new venture into fashion is a win-win for Cedric since Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp., a privately-held company based in Los Angeles, partnered with the WHO CED? line to use the hat as part of their employee recognition program for those who best represent character and credibility in serving small businesses.
“Over many decades, the fedora has built a reputation as the American businessman’s hat,” states Judy Hackett, chief marketing officer. “We teamed up with WHO CED? not just because they’re building a brand with style, but because the hat itself exudes a reputation of permanence, something that’s crucial in business management.”
“We’re very excited to partner my WHO CED? hat line with Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp.,” says Cedric the Entertainer. “We are definitely looking forward to a creative partnership and reigniting respect for the fedora hat!” –yvette caslin
