Not Your Mama’s 'JET' Magazine: Mitzi Miller Named New Editor-in-Chief

JET magazine is about to take off on a youthful rocket ride. Journalist Mitzi Miller was named as editor in chief of the legacy publication. She will assume the post on May 9, 2011. Celebrating it’s 60th year, the weekly publication has a readership of 8 million.

Previously an editorial consultant with Juicy and SET magazines, Miller is also a contributor to Essence, VIBE and Uptown magazines to name a few. She also has served as TV and food critic for VH1 and Food Network, respectively. An accomplished author, Miller’s first book, The Angry Black Woman’s Guide to Life, received rave reviews in the New York Times, Boston Globe and Newsweek. Her second book, The Vow, was recently optioned by Lifetime Television Network.

“I am honored to join the Johnson Publishing family, and look forward to re-energizing the JET brand,” said Miller. “For 60 years, JET has consistently delivered news about black America. It is my priority to meet the evolving media needs of our loyal base of readers in exciting and entertaining ways.”

A skilled public speaker and sought-after conference panelist, Miller is also a board member of the nonprofit Hip-Hop 4 Life.
