Former G-Unit rapper The Game has apparently run into trouble across the border after making a trip from Los Angeles to Canada Wednesday, April 20, for a performance. While attempting to make his way into the northern country, The Game was detained by Canadian customs officials.
According to mtv.com, The Game was headed to Nova Scotia for a show at the Halifax Forum when the incident occurred. After being held by customs officials for three hours, he began to share his ordeal with his fans via his Twitter page.
“Customs officials just denied me entry into Canada. I’m sorry 2 ALL my fans but I was mislead by promoters & assured I would be able 2 enter,” The Game tweeted, adding that he would be held in Canada for the next two weeks for violating Canada’s immigration laws. “This just in: I’m being detained in Canada for 14 days until they process my inadmissability then I’ll have a hearing heard by a judge.”
The Game then tweeted his fans a final update and last goodbye before officials confiscated his phone and personal property.
F—– up situation !!! But at least they let me call home, & tweet before they lock a n—- up !!! Gotta turn in my property, y’all be kool,” tweeted The Game. “…This some straight b——- ! Flew all the way from LA to be denied and detained ?!?! WTF”
Although The Game tweeted that he would be detained for two weeks, a representative of the Canada Border Service Agency, Patrizia Giolti, explained that this information was false.
“While the Privacy Act prevents me from discussing the specifics of an individual case, I can tell you that [The Game’s] information is not consistent with ours,” said Giolti, “In addition, when a foreign national is detained, they must have a detention review hearing before the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) within 48 hours of their detention.”
No further information has been released on The Game’s current status in Canada.
