On Saturday, April 30, power couple Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon welcomed their long-awaited twins into the world and to further celebrate the joyous occasion, the pair renewed their wedding vows the following day with the help of Rev. Al Sharpton, in the hospital.
According to theboombox.com, besides renewing the couple’s vows, Sharpton also blessed the pair’s son and daughter, saying he was proud of Cannon and Carey’s dedication to their new family.
“I was very moved by Mariah and Nick’s commitment to want their babies prayed over in their first 24 hours of their life and continue their annual tradition of renewing their marriage vows,” Sharpton explained. “In a time where so many entertainment figures become captives of their success, their commitment to their spiritual life and wanting their beautiful twins born in that atmosphere is exemplary and worthy of admiration.”
Ironically, before the birth of their twins, which happened on the couple’s third anniversary, Cannon joked that the vow renewal might happen at the hospital. On Sunday, Cannon tweeted to his fans that indeed the ceremony would occur at the health facility.
“Yep, we just had a wedding in the hospital,” Cannon tweeted on Sunday. “Thank you to @THEREVAL who came all the way to the hospital to renew me and my wife’s vows and pray with our children.”
