The Kenwood Oakland Community Organization held its 46th Annual Convention recently in Chicago. The theme, “A New Generation of Leadership,” paid homage to yesterday’s trailblazers while enlightening the community about workforce opportunities, affordable housing issues, public safety and youth investment opportunities.
Workshop topics geared toward examining the conditions and impact of the quality of life on Kenwood Oakland community residents included youth investment initiatives, housing, education, economic development and fresh food options.
The Kenwood Oakland Community Organization featured Karen GJ Lewis, president of the 30,000-member Chicago Teachers Union, as the keynote speaker. For more information about the Kenwood Oakland Community Organization, call 773.548.7500.
