Blogger Tami Reviews 'Mr. Popper's Penguins'

My family and I recently got a chance to see the sneak peek of Mr. Popper’s Penguins. The movie stars Jim Carrey as Mr. Popper, a workaholic who has lost touch with reality and his family. He is a tough and conniving businessman with little regard for the feelings of others.

That is until he inherits six adorable penguins from his deceased dad. Things change quickly around his posh high rise apartment in NYC. But, an evil  zookeeper has his eye on Mr. Popper’s prized penguins — you know there is always a villain lurking! Mr. Popper learns lots of lessons along the way.

The film is shot on a refrigerated soundstage with real emperor penguins, and they are almost too cute to watch. There’s Loudy, Bitey, Nimrod, Stinky, Captain, and Lovey.  I’m also glad that there are still movies out there, portraying family units giving it their best effort together. My husband even stayed awake the whole time, and if a rated PG movie can keep my hubby up, it’s a good movie! When we were leaving the theatre my tween daughter said, “mom when is this movie coming out on DVD, you have to buy this for us.”

My son loved all the animal scenes — and, as for me, I really related to the film since I am a wife and mom of a tweens. I felt for Amanda (Carla Guigino) and know that whole my own hubby works too much scenario, all too well. My daughter really related to Janie (Madeline Carroll),the tween daughter who is suffering mounting peer pressure. My son related to Billy (Maxwell Perry Cotton) because both of them love for animals. Both child actors were the same age as my kids. I absolutely loved the movie directed by Mark Waters, it’s a must see for family entertainment. The movie is based on the classic book and hits theaters today!
