Tyler, The Creator Says He'll Be Dead by 40, Discusses the Columbine Massacre

Odd Future front man Tyler, The Creator has embedded himself in the current landscape of pop culture with both his off-the-wall music and controversial Twitter beefs with artists such as Chris Brown. Now, Tyler has made headlines, once again, by predicting that he’ll be dead by the time he’s 40.

According to NME, in an interview with Q magazine, the 20-year-old rapper explained that by his mid-20’s he’ll likely develop a heroin addiction before finally kicking the bucket by his 40th birthday.

“I’ll be dead [by the time I’m 40],” said Tyler. “Either an obsessed fan or a heroin overdose. I’ll probably get into that at 24.”

Shifting gears from impending doom to social media, Tyler, who’s known for his controversial online remarks, revealed that he’d gotten into an argument on Twitter over his opinions of the Columbine High School massacre, which left a teacher and 12 students dead after two senior students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, went on a shooting spree.

“I got into an argument because I said the Columbine [shooters] were probably really cool people,” explained Tyler. “I was just saying they could have been really nice people, probably could have taken them to a game. I wasn’t saying what they did was right.”

It just goes to show that the eccentric Tyler is both a PR agent’s worst nightmare and a publicity machine’s greatest dream. Regardless, hopefully Tyler’s predictions of self-destruction never come true. –nicholas robinson
