Long night of partying? Lack of sleep? Too much sun? If you are a victim of any of these scenarios, then check out these six simple steps on keeping your eyes looking young, fresh and awake! Your eyes are the windows to your soul. So, always keep them looking good. –mckenzie harris
Protect Your Peepers
We are exposed to the sun more times than we think, and a window or tree won’t always block those harmful rays from our skin. It’s summer and the best time to wear some new fun shades! Look for sunglasses labeled “UV 400,” and choose large frames for maximum coverage. Hater-blockers anyone?
Night Regeneration
Using a retinol at night is great because it’s the one ingredient proven to stimulate collagen production and reduce wrinkles. Look for creams or serums that come in an aluminum tube or opaque pump bottle. They keep retinol stable and strong. Products with both retinol and vitamin K work especially well on dark circles. Tip: Don’t go too crazy at night with the creams and gels. They could backfire and lead to even puffier bags.
Sleep, Sleep and More Sleep
It’s crucial to get a good night’s rest for your skin and face to feel and look rejuvenated. If your lifestyle doesn’t exactly include a time slot for a healthy, eight-hour dose of zzz’s, then at least try reaching for six. At night, you can also try tucking an extra pillow underneath your head. The elevation will help prevent fluid from settling under the skin around your eyes.
Prime Away
A primer can do double-duty for your eyes, making your shadow pop as well as filling in your crow’s feet. For the filler option, choose a primer containing silicone.
Conceal Like a Pro
Concealer can be your best friend and also can save your life. Disguise your dark circles using a creamy concealer that comes in a squeeze tube or pot. If you have a blue or purple cast under your circles, go for a yellow-based shade. If you have brown circles, then pick a peachy color.
Skip These Shades
If you have puffy eyes, it’s best to skip bright, dark or shimmery eye makeup. The best way to go is to pick a matte shadow that’s slightly darker than your skin, then sweep it across your eyelids and along your lower lashes to make puffiness less obvious.
