Lupe Fiasco Quits TwitterLupe Fiasco, after becoming one of hip-hop’s most entertaining and controversial tweeters, has announced that he’s quitting the social media site and handing over his account to singer-songwriter Nikki Jean.

Lupe shared the news with his more than 700,000 followers on July 13, explaining that he would now be focusing his attention on touring in promotion of his latest hit album, L.A.S.E.R.S.


“I’m quitting Twitter. it was fun while it lasted …,” tweeted Lupe. “thanks for the support on #lasers and i will see you all on the road soon… […] don’t forget… Love Always Shines Everytime Remember 2 Smile.

Lupe then announced that Jean, who collaborated with the rapper on his 2007 single,  “Hip-Hop Saved My Life,” would now run his Twitter account.


“u know what??? i’m gonna let @NIKKIJEAN takeover my twitter — go get that album,” tweeted Lupe, along with a link to Jean’s Pennies In A Jar album.

Shortly thereafter, Jean took over Lupe’s account and promised fans that the Chicago emcee wouldn’t be gone for too long.

“Big thank you to @LupeFiasco for supporting my record. He won’t be gone for too long. Promise ;-),” tweeted Jean from Lupe’s account.

Hopefully, Lupe’s Twitter hiatus won’t last for too long and until his return, fans can still enjoy his personal blog. –nicholas robinson
