After winning fans over with his Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne-assisted No. 1 hit, “Look At Me Now,” earlier this year, Chris Brown now wants make the full transition from singer to rapper, announcing that he plans to release a full-out rap mixtape.
Brown made the announcement July 20, via his Twitter page, dubbing the apparently good-boy-gone-bad themed mixtape, Boy In Detention.
“New(chris brown) hip hop mixtape called “Boy In Detention” coming soon!” tweeted Brown, adding “And people… Yes I’m a singer so if this mixtape doesn’t reach your quota for hip hop! Simply don’t listen..”
Brown’s move to hip-hop has seemingly been in the works for months now, with the F.A.M.E. singer appearing on hip-hop tracks like Big Sean’s “My Last” as well as rapping on a series of songs called “Real Hip-Hop S—t,” produced by legendary hip-hop producer 9th Wonder.
Adding to his new bad boy rapper image, an already tatted up Brown also revealed via Twitter that he’s now sporting a fresh set of gold grills.
“Stomachache from eating gold!!!!” tweeted Brown with a link showing off his grills, followed by another photo link with the hashtag “#boyzindetention.”
Despite his past history of violence, it may not be easy to fathom the boyish, hipster-like singer as a true bad boy, but, if anything, Brown is sure to finally capture the essence of former rough-and-tumble hip-hop sex symbol, LL Cool J. –nicholas robinson
