Beyoncé and Jay-Z have pulled the ultimate power move and have announced to the world that they’re now pregnant.
During the MTV Video awards, the Grammy-award-winning singer performed a spirited rendition of “Love on Top,” a song on her new album that speaks to her man putting her first over everything else, and afterwards popped open her costume jacket to reveal an obvious baby bump. The audience went wild, with Jay-Z getting all kinds of big ups from those around him, including a startled but congratulatory Kanye West.
Fans and detractors have long been preoccupied with the couple and whether or not they would ever have a baby, and now they have their answer.
Beyoncé beamed as she revealed her secret to the millions around the world watching the show — ensuring that she’d be the talk of the night. It was genius to retain her power over tabloids and blogs by telling virtually every one at once, on her own terms. Now, we’ll see what kind of turn her career takes, since family will be a priority for a good while.
While Beyoncé is incubating what will be one of the wealthiest and possibly most talented child born in a while, we’ll miss her high-energy performances and smoking fashion shoots — but duty calls.
The glowing goddess of R&B had earlier revealed the bump to reporters on the VMA’s black carpet.
We all should have suspected something was up when, while taking a hiatus from performing for the last several months, B started talking about exploring her “domestic” side.
“I always said I would have a baby at 30,” Beyoncé told Piers Morgan on a June 27 appearance on his CNN show.
The “Best Thing I Never Had” singer turns 30 Sept. 4.
