Acclaimed actor Terrence Howard is known for his passionate acting onscreen, but off screen, Howard seems to let his passion go a bit too far as reports claim that he recently left a man an angry death threat for allegedly calling his wife.
According to RadarOnline, who obtained audio of the life-threatening voice message, Howard left the voicemail early Aug. 31, identifying himself early on before threatening the stranger with death if he ever calls his wife, Michelle Ghent, again.
“N–ga, you been calling my wife… If you call my wife again I’m going to come to your house and I’m going to cut your f—ing throat,” Howard says in the message. “Understand that. I’m gonna tell you this one time. You call my wife again, I’m going to kill you.”
According to the anonymous source, five days prior to receiving the threatening phone call, his female friend claimed to have gotten Howard’s phone number from another friend. After a night of drinking, the female friend decided to prank call Howard, expressing to him her undying love for him.
“Her phone was dead, so she used mine and left about a three-minute voicemail professing her love for him,” the source said. “But apparently the call was made to his wife’s phone, not his. I’m assuming she got the voicemail of my friend gushing about Terrence and questioned him about it.”
Apparently, Howard thought the call came from a man who he alleges was harassing his wife. But upon realizing the case of mistaken identity, Howard left the source another voicemail on Sept. 7, apologizing for the threatening voicemail.
“I’m so sorry for calling you and speaking that way,” Howard said. “I thought you were somebody that’s been harassing my wife. Please forgive me.”
Howard then sent the source an apologetic text message as well.
“My wife told me that she was receiving obscene text from you and that she was being harassed. Therefore I responded with the protective nature that a husband has for his wife,” Terrence wrote. “Forgive me for the anger, but as you are watching over your girl friend, I too am devoted to my love.”
The source, though shocked by both voice messages, said he wasn’t surprised that the misunderstanding was eventually cleared up.
“I was shocked when I got another voicemail from him, but it didn’t surprise me that he’d probably realized what he did and wanted to try to patch it up,” the source said.
The source, clearly no longer frightened by the threat of Howard, also left the Hustle & Flow actor with some final, comical words.
“All I have to say is, it’s hard out here for a pimp,” said the source. – nicholas robinson
