It’s been six months since celebrity power couple Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey welcomed their newborn twins, Monroe and Moroccan Scott. And though proud papa Cannon has made it clear that he doesn’t want their kids to grow up in the limelight, he and Carey, in their first interview since the birth, will be presenting their twins for their first television appearance on ABC’s “20/20” with famed journalist Barbara Walters.
Carey announced the interview in a statement made via her website last week, even including a video of her singing her popular love ballad, “We Belong Together,” to her son.
“Mariah and Nick recently sat down with Barbara Walters in their New York apartment to discuss Mariah’s pregnancy, their marriage, their beautiful baby twins Monroe and Moroccan and much more. Tune in to ABC next Friday, October 21st at 10:00pm to watch the exclusive interview including #DemBabies for the first time ever!” read the statement.
According to Us Weekly, the twins aren’t the only thing that the happy couple is premiering. Carey, known for her curvaceous bombshell body, will also be showing off her slimmed-down post-babies body.
“She’s so focused right now on every aspect. She’s going to come back and knock out the world,” said Cannon to the magazine in mid-September. “She’s getting in shape.
“At two months she was walking around in a bathing suit,” he said. “I personally think she’s going to come out looking better — looking like it’s 1990! I think that’s what she’s aiming for, and I think she’ll reach that goal.”
Though Monroe and Moroccan Scott may be getting an early taste of the cameras, Cannon says fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about the twins being the next Tia and Tamara Mowry or Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
“I’m one of those believers in teachers, professors, heart surgeons. That’s what I’m rooting for. If I could get a scientist, that’d be amazing,” said Cannon in September.
Well, the twins may never follow in their parent’s footsteps, but they’ll surely get the star treatment once the interview airs this weekend. –nicholas robinson
