The Roots Reveal Cover Art for New Album 'Undun'; 5 Best Hip-Hop Album Covers of the Past Decade

The Roots will release their 13th studio album, Undun, on Dec. 6. Weeks before the album is scheduled to hit shelves and online stores, the legendary crew revealed the cover art for their new album.

The cover features a black-and-white portrait of kids in an urban setting doing flips on an old mattress. Captured by Jamel Shabazz, the image is a powerful piece of art that coincides with The Roots knack for being innovative.


Great album covers can tell a complex story and add more meaning to an artist’s project.
