Hip-Hop’s latest premiere conscious emcee, Lupe Fiasco, dropped a gem of a debut album in 2005 with Food & Liquor, selling gold and drawing a myriad of accolades from industry heads and fans alike. So, expectations were largely high in 2007, when he planned the release of his sophomore album, The Cool. And much to fans delight,this time around, Lupe focused his wide net of lyrics into a concentrated and brilliant concept album, that stole hearts as well as the charts and made him a commercially successful artist.
