Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, FedEx expects to handle more than 260 million shipments. That’s a 12 percent increase from last year, as consumers turn to the Internet to find holiday deals.
In order to meet the increased demand the company announced it will hire 20,000 seasonal workers.
FedEx says it expects to handle more than 17 million packages on its busiest day of the year in mid-December — a 9 percent increase from last year’s busiest day, and nearly double what the company ships on a normal day.
